2013-01 ~ Basantapur Update ~ Twinned Status Change Recommended

It appears the struggle to keep this community school separate and non-fee paying has been lost and the school is now integrated into the local government run high school called Janta Mora. This is all part of the long running Nepal government review of rural schools and efforts to cut costs.

As MCWFN and Manisha UK’s aims are to assist non-fee paying schools it is recommended that we cease to support this school unless and until a pending court case to revert the school to community status is heard and won. Investment in the building of the new rooms was ceased some time ago when it became clear the future of the school was in doubt.

Therefore, and very reluctantly, Manisha UK is recommending to the Steve Sinnott Foundation that the twinning relationship between Basantapur and Whitehall Infants School is ceased and that a new twin for Whitehall is established while Johnny is still in Nepal.

As ever, all the latest pictures from this school can be found on the school profile page and Johnny's latest experiences can be seen on his blog.
