Laharepipal Building Progress

Building work at Laharepipal primary school is almost complete. The much needed medical centre and kitchen are expected to be complete in July.

In a major win for local democracy, MCWFN's Mahendra Man Shakya led a campaign to save this school from closure in May. The Nepalese government was looking to save money by closing and merging schools. However, opposition to the plan was well organised and a change of mind resulted in this school being able to continue to provide free education to the poorest children in this community.

A major factor in winning the argument was the investment that had already been made in the school by SSF, Manisha UK and MCWFN.
