Partners
In the UK ...
Our volunteer trustees work with key partners to help shape, resource and deliver our programmes:
The Steve Sinnott Foundation, through which we have established a network of Nepalese schools. The Steve Sinnott Foundation was instrumental in securing funding for all 4 major building projects. Our heart-felt thanks go to them and their partners for their generosity and thought leadership in the management of these significant undertakings.
The Ashworth Charitable Trust, through a generous match funding scheme, we raised the funds required to totally rebuild 5 schools, and repair 4 more, which were destroyed or damaged by the 2015 earthquakes in Nepal.
The University of Worcester, through which we have established a volunteer selection programme whereby newly qualified teachers (NQTs) can opt to take a year out of employment at the end of their university course to undertake a 6-month placement on our Teacher Training Programme, sharing their skills with teachers in Nepal. Our thanks go to the staff and students for their continued interest and support for our placement programme. [Note: This programme now closed]
The Heart of England Rotary Clubs, and in particular the Redditch and Knowle & Dorridge clubs, through which significant funds have been raised over the years.
Our UK Volunteers, we focus on selecting a low volume of high quality subject matter professions enabling these dedicated professionals to undertake 2 – 8 week placements alongside our NQT placements and in support of one or more of our programmes of activity.
In Nepal ...
Our School Coordinator, Saran Saru, is retained on a funded basis to ensure we embed the principles of good twinning relationships in our supported schools. Saran also provides logistical and translation assistance to our volunteers, when in Nepal.
Our Nepalese Volunteers assist Saran during periods of volunteer and NQT placements. Together, Saran and team provide invaluable support in the logistics of placement arrangement, translation and in coordinating all aspects of placement activities.
Ahead of raising funds to improve the facilities of our supported schools to an acceptable standard for primary education, we and our volunteers in Nepal are working with the local communities in Nepal to understand what is required to achieve sustainable schools in each of these disadvantaged communities. Out of this process will come a prioritised list of projects suitable for investment.
