The Everest Challenge 2025:

• There are two event types:

  • • Live: at GOAT Fitness on September 20th, 2025

    • Virtual: anywhere, anytime on or before September 13th, 2025

• Mount Everest is 8,848m high and the challenge is to complete:

  • • 8,848m as a Single (Ergathlon at Live, Row at Virtual), or

    • 8,848m row as a Pairs team, or

    • 13,272m row as a Threes team, or

    • 17,696m row as a Fours team.

Event Detail:

• Live event:

  • • Saturday, 20th September at:

      • •  GOAT Fitness, Broadview Farm, Twyford, Evesham, WR11 4TG

    • Entry closes at 23:59 on 6th September

    • Results will be gathered from the machine's monitor by a race marshal.

    • Full event details and arrival times will be emailed once entry closes

    • Car parking is limited, please car share if possible

• Virtual event:

  • • Complete anywhere, anytime up to 13th September

    • Entry closes at 23:59 on 6th September

    • After your race, take a photo of the race result on your machine's monitor

    • Submit your race result (once per team) by 23:59 on 13th September at Everest Submit

Races & Rules:

• Singles races are:

  • • At the Live event, an 8,848 Ergathlon (2,000m Ski / 4,000m Bike / 2,848m Row). 

    • At a Virtual event, an 8,848m Row.

• Team races are: Pairs 8,848m; Threes 13,272m; Fours 17,696m

• Team races are to be shared approximately equally at around 4,424m per person.

• Machines must be set to Single Distance so as to count down from the appropriate distance

• Each team decides their own changeover strategy: 500m and 2 minutes are popular changeovers.

• Team members may help fix/release rowing machine foot-straps.

• Safety is paramount, practice is essential, check your machine, keep spectators at a safe distance.

• Teams must mount from the left and dismount to the right to avoid collisions within and between teams. 

Results:

• Categories for results purposes:

  • • Single: Male and Female within age categories.

    • Teams: Male, Female and Mixed.

• Results of the Live and Virtual events will be combined and announced at the Live event.

• Certificates will be emailed to all participants a few days after the Live event.

Entry and Payment:

• You may enter multiple races over Live and Virtual events

• Each competitor must personally complete Entry and Payment for each race they enter

• Entry is by donation, suggested minimum donation is:

  • • Live event: £20 per person per race, includes complementary drink and cake

    • Virtual event: £10 per person per race
